Technique of the Month

This is a technique that would be used when both people in an encounter have a stick or some sort of striking or blunt object. In this scenario both people are holding the stick in their right hand. This can happen if someone picks up a pipe or a stick and in defense, you pick up something to defend yourself with.

1.

On the right is Sam preparing to attack John who is standing on the left.
2.

John defends by blocking Sam's stick with his stick and stopping Sam's hand with John's left hand.
3.

John then grabs Sam's hand and pushes it down.
4.

John swings Sam's hand across as he goes in to strike Sam's midsection.
5.

John strikes Sam's midsection.
6.

John strikes through pulling his stick to the right side of his own body.
7.

John then prepares to disarm Sam's stick by placing his forearm on Sam's stick.
8.

John then pushes forward disarming Sam's stick into Sam. This should be done very slow in training because of the risk of injury. The stick will hit the opponent in the face.
